Pitched up (met up with a mate) expecting no wind as the cloud had scuppered the big potential for a sea breeze. And sure enough, no wind, but the sun had just burnt the cloud away. Waited for about half an hour and at 4pm white horses started to appear - it was low tide and at the waters edge there was still no wind. My mate had big kit so thought I'd at least keep him company on the water with mine but didn't expect to get up and planing. Very pleasantly surprised then that I stepped on and was almost instantly powered up. Those kind of conditions are never going to be truly exciting but I hadn't been out for so long that any planing time was a bonus. Came in and swapped boards so got to try some new super short slalom thing and it seemed to go well, although the wind was beginning to drop off by then, so unfortunately ended up with a small walk of shame as the tide flow increased and the wind dropped. Still, very worthwhile bunking off the afternoon in the office.
